Commander Tier List - Launch Picks Ranked

Every revealed Dicevaders commander ranked for launch: The Captain, Blob Girl, The Core, The Duchess, The Riftmaker, Whisperer and The Exalted, by engine strength.

Quick Answer: Who Is the Best Commander?

Before launch week, the honest answer is kit-based, not meta-based: this list ranks the seven commanders with official kit breakdowns by how strong their scoring engines look on paper and in the demo — not by post-launch leaderboard data. Blob Girl tops the list on demonstrated score ceiling; The Captain is the consistency pick; The Riftmaker has the highest revealed burst. We revise this page against real meta data after launch.

Quick Answer: Who Is the Best Commander?
TierCommanderWhy
SBlob GirlMini Dice swarm scales effortlessly; Oozone + Slusho Max is the highest demonstrated score ceiling in the demo era.
SThe RiftmakerMass Relay's triple-Rift 20-unit volley plus Eon Moss Chrono economy is the strongest paper engine revealed.
AThe ExaltedThree Legendaries and Divine Touch trigger loops — enormous ceiling, demands careful artifact placement.
AThe DuchessFourth-row board plus chess units and two Legendary destruction payoffs — wide, flexible, slightly slower to come online.
AThe CoreKraken column engine is consistent and teachable; Hydra Head doubles everything, ceiling below Riftmaker.
B+WhispererApple destruction economy is real but multi-step; strongest when Whalefall and Parasite are online.
B+The CaptainSteady Budge economy — the consistency pick for learning, weaker top-end than the swarm kits.

How This Ranking Was Built

  • Official kit data: every artifact and perk effect ranked here comes from the developers' own Dev log breakdowns.
  • Demo evidence: four commanders (The Captain, Blob Girl, The Core, The Duchess) are playable now — community score runs and the official Duchess Infinity Challenge informed their placements.
  • Paper engine strength: for launch-only commanders, we rate engine coherence — how many kit pieces feed the same resource.
  • Honesty note: the two unnamed launch commanders and The Overseer's unlock path are not ranked — no official kit data yet.

Tier List Notes Per Pick

Blob Girl wins the early game by default — three Mini Dice per turn is scaling that asks nothing of you. The Riftmaker wins the mid-game once Mass Relay starts converting base dice into Rift faces. The Exalted is the skill-ceiling pick: Golden Halo and Red Spice reward players who plan board layout turns in advance. The Core is the most predictable engine and the best second commander to learn. Whisperer wants the most pieces online before paying out, and The Captain trades ceiling for the smoothest learning curve in the game.

Tier lists at launch are snapshots. The developers built ten commanders explicitly around "completely different ways to break the game" — expect the meta to move.

What Would Change This List

Three things, in order of likelihood: launch balance patches, the reveal of the two unnamed commanders, and The Overseer's hybrid builds — mixing two engines (say Blob Girl Mini Dice with Riftmaker Chrono) is exactly the kind of combination the developers tease for out-of-bounds scores. Post-launch, this page switches to win-rate and score-distribution data as it becomes available.
