Token Units Unit Guide
Unit Profile
Type
Alien
How to Enable It
They enter your board from effect spawns (Rat Poison's Token-unit scores, engine spawns); you do not draft them from the shop.
How It Enters Your Board
Generated by effects across kits — the game's generic spawned-unit category.
Score / Trigger
Token units are scored like any unit but are excluded from "non-Token" effects — a rules distinction that matters for building.
Confirmed Mechanics
Why "Non-Token" Matters
Several confirmed effects specify non-Token units: The Art Of War shields and pays XP for non-Token spawns, En Passant pays for destroying non-Token units, Bogland attaches its On Death effect to non-Token units. Token units — the pieces your engines spit out — sit outside those payouts, which is exactly why Rat Poison specifically scores a random Token unit with +2 Repeat.
How to Build Around It
Reading the Fine Print
Build evaluation starts by sorting effects into Token and non-Token buckets. Engines that spawn Tokens (Wormfection's Worms, Galactic Web's Webs) want Token-score outlets; engines that spawn non-Token units want shield and XP outlets. The Overseer's two-engine runs make the distinction the difference between a board that compounds and one that clogs.
